The 2nd AAMO Council Meeting and the 7th Annual General Meeting was held on the 25th – 27th October 2018 at the Soaltee Crowne Plaza Kathmandu, Nepal, hosted by the Management Association of Nepal (MAN).  The President of AAMO, Dato’ Ng Tieh Chuan in his welcome address spoke on VUCA, and how the volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity of today’s environment requires greater planning and transformation by organisations. He added that organisations today can no longer operate using the traditional way of business, and how AMMO should work together to bring about positive change onto our industry. The meeting also discussed various matters, such as:

a) The revival of the AAMO Triennial Conference:  Asian Management Conference

The CEO of the Malaysian Institute of Management, Mr. Sivanganam presented the concept paper on the AAMO Triennial Conference 2019. The conference was proposed to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in April 2019 and will coincide with the 1st AAMO Council Meeting for 2019. The purpose of the conference is as a branding initiative of the AAMO name. The proposal outlined the event as a two-day programme with the conference held on the first day followed by the council meeting on the second. The conference will be titled Leadership Asia: Towards High Impact Leadership, and highlight the following topics:

  1. Future-Proof Leadership
  2. Aging Talent Pool
  3. Diversity & Inclusion
  4. Governance
  5. Education into the Workforce
  6. TVET / Skills Development
  7. Innovation & Industry 4.0

The Conference will be culminated with the AAMO Gala Dinner and Award Night, to recognise the contribution of leaders in the following categories:

  • AAMO Visionary Leader and Nation Builder Award to the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
  • AAMO Asian Leadership Award 2019 from each member country.

b) AAMO Rebranding Initiative


The AAMO Council officially approved the adoption of the new AAMO logo. The new design emphasises the AAMO name clearly. The previous logo had the brand name at the bottom, which was unclear when used on marketing collaterals.
