The Asian Association of Management Organisations (AAMO) convened its first Council Meeting of the year from April 11 to 13 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The meeting brought together management leaders from Hong Kong, China; India; Macao, China; Malaysia; Nepal; Pakistan; and Sri Lanka to deliberate on regional strategies and deepen professional collaboration.
The meeting was presided over by Raymond Bao, the current President
of AAMO and Council Vice Chairman of Macau Management Association. He warmly welcomed
3 new members to the AAMO council, they being Viveca Chan from Hong
Kong, China, Hem Kumari Adhikari from Nepal, and Nujjith Samarawickrema from
Sri Lanka. The inclusion of these distinguished leaders reflects AAMO’s
steadfast commitment to fostering diverse leadership and professional
governance within the Asia-Pacific region.
During the meeting, the council unanimously resolved to endorse the ‘Professional Manager Programme’
organised by the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM). Representing AAMO,
Raymond Bao signed the endorsement agreement with MIM. This landmark agreement represents a
significant step forward in harmonizing regional management standards. By
providing business leaders with internationally recognised professional
credentials, the partnership aims to accelerate the professionalisation of
management talent and cultivate the next generation of visionary leaders in
Asia.
Macau Management Association also reported on the progress of
several core projects for the year, including the Asian Management Game, the
Young Managers’ Program, and the overall administrative affairs of the
Secretariat. Furthermore, the Council reached a unanimous consensus to hold the
2nd Council Meeting of 2026 in Australia during the fourth quarter
of this year, aiming to forge deeper strategic ties with the Australian
professional management community and expand the organization’s collaborative
footprint.
Following the Council session,
delegates attended the ‘Asian Ambassadorial Dialogue,’ themed ‘Asia's Human
Capital Alignment: An AI-Powered Agenda for a Transformed Future.’ The
forum featured distinguished diplomats from Germany, India, Japan and
Singapore. The panel offered high-level insights into digital transformation,
cross-border innovation, and the strategic evolution of human capital in the
era of Artificial Intelligence.
The meeting was concluded on April
13 with a cultural visit to Melaka, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Delegates
visited historic landmarks such as A Famosa Fort, St. Paul’s Hill, and the
Stadthuys. This cultural engagement provided a valuable platform for informal
exchange, further consolidating the bonds of friendship and mutual trust among
the management organisations in the region.
